(More customer reviews)With this sleek little pot, you can make espresso on the stovetop like they do in Italy.The Venus Bialetti is easy to use-- if you use a countertop drip maker, you can handle this. It takes only 3 minutes on my stove to make 4 shots.

I have been using this daily for a little over a year, usually one pot for myself and one for my husband and the gasket is still doing well.

It does not make the same quality as an industrial espresso maker but it certainly out performs the various countertop models I've tried. I would even go out on a limb and say that a countertop model that outperforms this would be in a price range of roughly 10 times this cost.Those take up a lot more real estate in small kitchen too.

The Bialetti Venus is also adorable. Not that I want to marry my espresso pot or anything. . .

B U T ...if you can live with all the flavor and none of the foam (and have a little skill) ..
Vev Vigano Itaca 4 cup Espresso maker is the slick , shiny , well made,durable little 18/10 stainless steel bombfor up to two people, with an espresso addiction

You'll have to polish your barista skills (grind and Tamp)...practice with and regular cleaning of the Itaca will be rewarded with crema and flavor ..lazyness will keep you in line at starbucks feeding a foam addiction...

Do the math ...I dropped forty five CA on the Itaca and inside ofseven days had consumed enough large lattes (twenty one of them) to require I take out a small loan to feed this same espresso addiction @ starbucks (I'm hooked on espresso, not foam, but if YOU need foam ..use an egg whip on your separately heated milk ...you wussies :)

REAL men only need apply to operate the Itaca..(it s all analog baby)
it gets hot and burns the fingers, it can spit out pure crap if the shot is not tamped and ground properly (imagine that)and if you overheat it, bitterness is the reward..plus you have to clean it after every use AND it takes just a weee bit longer than making a cup of instant...

It s worth it all... for the flavor..it s really really good ..it s really addictive ...I may have to sue ...and I dont miss and or need the foam on my latte ...

Arrrrrr ..Have you ever been to sea without an espresso machine Billy? ....

(More customer reviews)While waiting impatiently for this item to arrive (it arrived in 3 days) I went looking for reviews (I know backwards process).I was a bit worried because many reviews on a different page complained of a stinky gasket and how it made the coffee smell and taste like rubber. I followed the instructions and rinsed the gasket and filter before use. Then brewed the 1st batch, which as the instructions mentioned should be thrown out. Then I brewed some water and vinegar, and finally just some water to rinse it.I know, a lot of work, but I have not had a problem with smell or taste.
Only complaint is that the first steam sometimes makes the lid jump up and splashes some of the espresso, just a few drops, around the stove burner.Also, you have to put it at the edge of the burner not in the middle, otherwise the handle gets too hot.

(More customer reviews)I did a LOT of research and finally settled on this one.I was not disappointed.One thing to say upfront is that it is a very good quality product and made in Italy (not made in China or India) and this is stainless which is important I gathered versus aluminum.

Coffee choice should be a finely ground espresso or dark roast - similar to one for a traditional espresso machine- and the quality of the output is top notch.

I would definitely recommend and have even ordered a second one to take to camp with me!

(More customer reviews)It's easy to get a cup of coffee anywhere, but it's not easy to get a really good cup of coffee. I have done a lot of research before I bought this item and I am very glad I got it. It was not mentioned in the item description so I'll note it here that this espresso maker is not made in Italy or India like a lot of others sold on Amazon. This one is made in China.

I have to say it's very beautifully made. It looks like what shown in the picture. It's very solid and seems that it will last for a long time.

I also wanted to share that I experimented with it a little and learned that the espresso tastes a lot better if I mix in the milk or cream with the water in the bottom base and let the entire liquid mix steam through the coffee ground.

Another note is that no matter how low the level of heat you use to brew is, the entire thing gets pretty hot. If it were having a plastic handle it would have been burned away on my first use. I kind of expected this and am glad the whole thing is made of steel.

I really love this espresso maker and would highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to make a good cup of coffee.

(More customer reviews)I got this espresso maker today.I made my first cup of coffee with it almost immediately.It was as good as Starbuck's espresso, and I am pleased with it.There is only one small drawback, but it is not unique to this product:it does not cover a small burner on the stove and has to be set on the burner so the handle doesn't sit over the hot part.This is a minor fault.What is nice about this pot is that it has 'aesthetic appeal'.It's a pretty little pot, and it works well, so I'll be using it a lot.

(More customer reviews)I am thrilled beyond words!I so love this little pot!It is gorgeous and so able to produce great coffee.I was able to successfully make a mocha that far surpassed any I have spent $4-5 on.This little pot is just so cool!First, its adorable, actually quite a beautiful piece.Its heavy stainless steel, has a great feel in your hands.Very well made, with the cute Bialetti logo engraved on side.Second, its extremely easy to use.Third, it makes a great cup of strong, delicious coffee!Fourth, its very VERY easy to clean.Here's how I make the best mocha and latte: follow directions on your pot for filling the bottom with water, fill the coffee filter with Dunkin Donuts ground coffee (yes, all you coffee snobs, DD coffee worked fabulously!) level with your finger, but DO NOT TAMP.Dust off edge of reservoir, screw on top part of pot.Place on med/hi NOT HIGH, heat and be careful to situate so you dont burn the handle.Stay close, cuz in about 5min it will be done.Meanwhile, place 1C milk in micro for 1.5min, then place in the Nissan stainless steel handpump frother.Pump until milk is sufficiently frothed.Add 2Tbl chocolate syrup in mugs (I used Hersheys Dark, great results) When your coffee is done, pour between the 2 mugs, then top off with about 1/3 mug of frothed milk in each.Such a simple pleasure.Too clean, just rinse with hot water and wipe dry. I'm in love with this pot!

i've had this espresso maker for a few months now & it is Spectacular & worth every penney ! ( never thought i'd be gushing over an espresso maker - in fact, i almost never review prodcuts myself, though i read them thoroughly before making purchases - but here i am . .lol )

If you've used stovetop espresso makers in the past, i think you'll find its performance Exemplary & if you haven't, the web makes it very simple to learn. Best of all, this pot makes it Fun.

delivers lovely cups of espresso in no time, with no mess ( and you can watch it happen - doesn't spurt all over with the top up so you can )

comes with an insert that allows the option of 3 espresso sized cups if you so choose ( about 3/4 cup total ), in addition to its normal 6 cup / 1 1/2 cup capacity

CONS: Zero that i can see

It may seem pricey at first but if you love espresso & want something that is just lovely to lookat AND that will last, this is definitely the way to go.( We have used stovetop espresso makers for years & this one trumps all i've come across. The aluminum ones end up looking crummy in no time, plus you really don't want aluminum in your body if you can help it & coffee is a known acidic.And the stainless steel on this one, is not a flimsy layer that's going to wear off. In fact, i just sent this to my daughter for her birthday. She loves to entertain and this makes a lovely impression whether for one or for guests.You definitely won't want to hide this away. )

This product is apparently made by a Canadian company but IN China according to the literature that accompanies it - which speaks Volumes for company oversight in terms of quality control & definitely not the usual made in China purchase you wish you'd passed by.

It also costs about ten times less then an espresso machine that probably won't make as good coffee, and eventualy will need repair. Bialetti has been making these things since the dawn of time and have it down to a science.

A few tips:
1. Grind coffee between medium and fine.
2. Don't pack coffee into basket like you do in an espresso machine.
3. Heat between medium and high heat.
4. Be careful not to have the handle be over the burner of flame.
5. NEVER WASH THE POT WITH DETERGENT. JUST RINSE AND DRY. The more you use the pot,the better the coffee becomes.
6. Before using for the first time season the pot. Make a pot of weak coffee and discard it.
