Gaggia MDF Coffee Grinder with Doser Review

(More customer reviews)For $200 this coffee grinder sucks.It's missing nice/easy to add features, like rubber stoppers on the bottom!!Both hands are busy, one holding the espresso handle and one operating the doser and the machine slides all over the counter.Also the doser never worked on my machine.It never dispensed the correct amount of coffee...and the coffee that came out of the dispenser went everywhere.Plus the dispenser handle was less than smooth to pull.I hate this machine.

Automatic dosing allows a premeasured amount of ground coffee to drop directly into the filter holder. Pull the lever once for one cup espresso, or twice for 2 cups. (More customer reviews)Very well built tamper and the heavy weight makes it easy on the hands. My only suggestion is to make sure you have the right size fitting for your home machine. I also recommend the convex model, as it makes a great pod of coffee and allows the perfect amount of water to flow, vs the flat model.

(More customer reviews)If you're a home barrista and you want to tamp your coffee this tamper works well. It's not too heavy and fits nicely in your hand, giving the tamped espresso that final spinning polish is not a problem either. It's not milled out of one piece of aluminum, I had to tighten the two pieces after about two weeks (from the spinning?). Make sure you get the right size. If your tamper is too small it's hard to exert the right amount of pressure without the grounds pushing their way up and making a mess. This is a good tamper for the price, no nonesense, no frills but does what it's supposed to.

Plastic Tamper 57/50mm Review

(More customer reviews)As it's name indicates, it's made out of plastic where as many of the other items in this catagory are metal but it does everything they do at about 20-30% of the cost. The cost of shipping was more than the cost of the tamper. The dual size tampers is a nice feature if you are not sure what size you need for your machine and the shaft between the two is long enough that you can firmly grip the unit without your fingers/knuckles getting in the way when tamping the grinds.

Dimensions are accurate (6 x 8), but photo shows a mat with different dimensions.When new, the mat had a heavy (and offensive) rubber smell.Multiple washings have reduced the odor, and hopefully that reduction will continue.... The odor kept me from giving the product 5 stars.

Krups XS5020 20-Ounce Stainless-Steel Milk Frothing Pitcher Review

But I think I did a mistake my not purchasing a smaller pitcher. I have a Mc Coffee machine that makes a decent cappuccino and I needed a pitcher such as this one. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the size of this pitcher was too large given the length of the steamer in my coffee machine. I am the only one who drinks coffee in my household, so I usually need only a small quantity of milk for my cappuccino. But then I found out that if I use the quantity of milk I usually need, the steamer does not even touch the milk, because the pitcher is too deep.

So, I would recommend this pitcher highly if you routinely prepare at least two cappuccinos, but otherwise you may want to check carefully the size of both the pitcher and the steamer in your coffee machine before buying this product.

MIU #90070 Frothing Thermometer Review

(More customer reviews)This thermometer has all the right features for frothing a pitcher of milk, it's a good size, and I liked the froth and scald indicators on the dial.

The problem with it is that face twists very easily on the stem, thereby 'changing' your temperature reading.Many thermometers allow you to calibrate them with a small wrench or tool, but this one will turn just by handling it. Even if you calibrate it in the morning, by the afternoon it will be off by 5-10 degrees.

I bought a couple dozen of these for my coffee shops, but ended up having to throw most away due to baristas inadvertently serving either cool drinks or scalding the milk.

Espresso Supply 58-Milimeter Backflush Insert, Metal Review

(More customer reviews)As the item description states, this blind basket will fit into a 58-mm (commercial size) portafilter.In my case, it fit perfectly in a Gaggia New Baby 2006 portafilter.I attempted to backflush my machine and did worked!In my case backflushing does not appear to be necessary because only clear liquid came out and there didn't appear to be any build-up behind the shower screen (though there are many who will argue otherwise).At $4 I believe the cost is really reasonable even if I never use it on the Gaggia again, I can still probably use it on any other 58-mm portafilter machine.

Note: Remember that you can only backflush a machine with a 3-way valve.If you are unsure of whether your machine has one or not I would strongly recommend finding out before buying this and possibly damaging your machine!

Rattleware 5-Inch Easy Steam S10 Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned this product now for about 4 months and it has been a great help to me in frothing milk for cappuccinos and lattes. I am a fairly serious cappucino junkie, Expobar machine, Mazzer mini grinder.

This product works best on my 20oz frothing pitcher, which I use most to prepare coffee drinks for 2-3 people. The clip holds well and it can be used unattended during the start of the steam process.

But, when I try to use it on my 12oz pitcher, it does not attach well because of the large clip on this thermometer. So it is less useful on this size.

In all, I love the analog display and the color coded areas. It very quickly gives you an assessment of how close you are to frothing (+140) temperature without having to read the display too closely.

Not perfect, but a good product.

After frothing the foam rises to about 2/3 - 3/4 of the pitcher volume, so one pours at a comfortable starting angle without spilling a drop. The pronounced spout is also helpful in this respect. This pitcher is very easy to clean and looks great beside our stainless espresso machine.
